DURHAM County A have a big derby clash in this weekend’s Middleton Cup clash against Northumberland at Alnwick.
Both sides won their opening games, so a victgory for either side will make them favourites to reach the national quarter-finals.
Durham include Silksworth’s David Bolt, Gary Farquhar, Phil Dixon, Billy Ferry, Scot Baker, Wayne Funnell, Michael Laydon and Phil Smithson.
Last season, Darlington RA lifted five of the six county titles so it’s no surprise that they have nine players selected.
H Durham County B’s Alsop Cup clash with Yorkshire at Stockton last weekend was abandoned, with the green becoming unplayable.
To constitute a match, 72 ends needed to be played, but despite attempts to leave three of the six rinks on, the game was abandoned with Yorkshire leading, with only 63 ends played.
The match will only be replayed if it affects the final table.
H The Durham County Balcombe double fours squad progressed to next Saturday’s regional finals day at Kirkbymoorside after defeating Lincolnshire 44-30.
Silksworth’s David Bolt skipped a rink, which included clubmate Phil Smithson, to a 25-14 victory, while Stockton’s Paul Mosely won 19-16.
In the semi-finals, Durham face Lancashire and Cumbria tackle Yorkshire.
