MAN-of-the-moment Davey Thompson made a fine start on the opening night of the Knack Premier League in Seaham.

Fresh from winning the county qualifier to represent Tyne and Wear in the BDO Gold Cup at the Lakeside, he stormed to a 5-0 win against Alan Smith.

The night’s other whitewash saw Ray Malarkey beat an out-of-sorts Spiller Henderson.

Pre-tournament favorite Eddie Ashman won 5-1 against Phil Dunn.

Kevin Guy got the night started with a solid display in a 5-1 win, including winning legs of 19 and two 18 darts and a 111 checkout.

Graham Mullen hit the league’s first 180 in a 5-1 win against Steve Skinner, including winning legs of 19 and 20 darts.

Martin Price and Ryhope’s John Redpath put on the game of the evening with a thrilling 4-4 draw.

Neil Rose beat Anth Skelton 5-2, though Skelton threw the night’s best leg of 14 darts.
