CITY of Sunderland’s 13-year-old Carissa Armijo and 14-year-old Anya Sordy won their first medals of the season and the first for the club when competing in the distance events at the Chester-le-Street Junior Meet.
Both finished in first position in their age groups.
Carissa posted a time of 9:18.78 minutes and Anya finished in 9:33.84.
Sunderland dominated the 14-year-old age group as Gabrielle Burdess finished in second place, closely behind Anya in a time of 9:34.03 minutes.
Amy Henshaw finished fourth in 9:43.84 minutes and Jodi Bunker was fifth with a time of 9:46.19 minutes.
The boys also performed well in the 1500m freestyle with 12-year-old JJ Robins finishing fourth in a time of 20:12.46 minutes.
Joseph Pomfret (13) completed the distance in 18:54.46 minutes to finish in fifth place and Jay Manners (14) finished fourth in a time of 19:06.23 minutes.
