The race for a place at the national championships in August at Worthing has reached a conclusion as the county finalists are now known, writes Richard Mckie.
In the singles, Silksworth’s David Bolt secured a return trip to Worthing with a win over Dipton’s Michael English and will face RA’s J.Hills in the county final.
The singles success sealed a double trip to Worthing as earlier, alongside team-mates Phil Dixon, Alfie Ferguson and Paul Baker, Bolt defeated Hartlepool’s Michael Bertram.
They will face Dunston’s Alan Theobold in the final.
In the pairs, Houghton Dairy Lane’s Ian Whorlton and Alan J Dunn secured a Worthing spot with a cracking win over RA’s John Fielding. In the county final, Dunn will face Owton Lodge’s David Fenwick.
In the two-bowl, Barnes Park’s Tommy Jopling lost his semi-final against Leadgate’s Gary Robson as did Herrington Workmen’s David Ridley against RA’s Keith Burton.
The county finals take place tomorrow at Owton Lodge.
