Boost for Farringdon after solid victory

FARRINGDON A were the only team in the top four in the Division One of the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League to significantly improve their position this week, by beating Hylton B 4-1.

They had a series of 30 breaks in the first three frames with Tom Feenan, Mick McLoughlin and Ian Stewart all showing good form.

Daz Haram took the fourth for Hylton B before Stewart and Hazard took the pairs to seal a 4-1win.

Leaders Whitburn won the first frame against Woodside B but lost the next two with Ritchie Milner and Wayne Foreman successful.

Jason Rodger rode to the rescue by beating Dave Manning in the fourth, before Phil Freeman and Derek White took the pairs for a hard-fought 3-2 result.

Biddick achieved the same score after losing the first two frames, with Adam Smith and Neil McLaren winning for Steels.

Graham Smith put the first point on the board for Biddick in the third and the match was levelled as Rod Turnbull took the next. Riley and Adamson completed a recovery by winning the pairs.

Hylton A lost ground by losing 3-2 to Washington Snooker after Bob Boyce had given them an early lead. Mark Bell was in fine form in winning the second and Graham Rutland took Washington into the lead by winning the third.

Kevin Harrop made it all square in the fourth before Herbert and Office took the pairs for Washington.

Gary Moore had a 37 break in the first frame for the Avenue before Graham Ablett responded with a 36 for Woodside B. Don Mulvaney took a hard third frame 60-54 and Bob Fisher the fourth to give Avenue a 3-1 advantage before Moore and Fox made it 4-1 in the pairs.

Green Baize struggled against Seaham Knack before winning 3-2. Kevin Brown took the first before Glen Edwards and Shaun Donnelly took the next two for the Knack. Craig Kane levelled in the fourth and joined Dean Wilson in winning the pairs.

Mill View Club had mixed fortune with the A team winning 3-2 and the B team losing 4-1.

Dean Taylor and Keith Johnston shared the first two frames before Paul Jenkins won 77-47 in the third. Adam Burnell followed up with a 47-40 success to take Mill View A into a 3-1 lead.

Both pairs teams had opportunities to win before Klien and Taylor took the point for Pennywell B.

Club revenge was achieved as Pennywell B outplayed Mill View B with Paul Wyatt dominating in the first and Sid O’Wellin winning on the black in the second.

A determined Steve Chandler came back strongly to win in the third for Mill View before Joe Turner won the fourth. Turner twinned with Anderson to win 62-25 in the pairs.
