KEEN darts players could find themselves up against two world champions, or pocket winnings of up to £1,200, as part of a new competition.
The Legends Darts Challenge is a 14-week series of club knock-outs being held at Rileys in Sunderland every Wednesday until April 27, starting at 7pm.
Each week, the winners will qualify for the 15th week (May 4) where they will be joined by legends and former world champions Eric Bristow and Keith Deller and play off for £1,200 worth of prize money.
On the finals night, they will also be joined by the famous darts MC Russ Bray and from the semi-finals onwards he will be calling the players’ scores out.
Entry is £3 per week and the winner on the night will receive a guaranteed qualifying spot for the finals night and £20 worth of Rileys vouchers. The runner-up will get £10 worth of vouchers.
The playing format for each night is straight in and double finish, and each match will be the best of 5 501 legs.
Weekly winners so far have included Andy King, Paul McGowan and Chris Bolam.
H The biggest amateur darts event ever hosted in the UK, the Harrows UK Darts Doubles, has a £10,000 prize fund up for grabs. Local qualifiers will be held at Rileys in Sunderland between March 14 and May 9.
Entry fee is £12 per pair and the closing date is March 7.

The format is best of three sets and each set will be five legs, 501 up, straight start and double finish.
Regional finals will be held on May 21, at a venue to be confirmed. The national final is on June 18.
