Keane haunted by Everton hammering

The manager says that Sunderland's 7-1 defeat at Everton earlier this season will stay with him for the rest of his life.

But he says he and his players learned a lot from that game and he expects his side to be a completely different proposition this weekend.

He said: "It's just the way I am and I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing but the defeats in my career have always stayed with me much longer than the victories.

"Certainly Everton in November was as bad as it gets.

"It will stay with me to my dying day and I'm sure that's the same for our players and supporters. But you use your setbacks and your mistakes as a way of improving and I certainly learned a lot about myself that day.

"We know this weekend will be tough because Everton have the incentive of chasing that fourth-place spot.

"They are a very good side and it will be a real challenge for us but that is what you are in football for and I have to say I am looking forward to this particular challenge."
