Hartlepool United: Turner's warning for Monkhouse
Chris Turner today warned Andy Monkhouse he must keep his petulance under control as his disciplinary record is costing Hartlepool United dear, writes CHRIS YOUNG.
Monkhouse is set to return to Pools' side for Saturday's crunch League One relegation clash with Southend after missing two games through suspension – for reaching 10 bookings for a second successive campaign.
Turner said: "I told him he needed to calm down when he got sent off three years ago at Rochdale!
"A lot of his bookings are foolish when he gets involved in things he doesn't need to.
"It is costly because we miss him when he is suspended.
"I don't think he has been booked this season for being aggressive. He has been booked for frustration rather than going gung-ho into a tackle to prevent a goal or shot.
"His bookings have come from tripping someone up, pushing a player over or shouting at a linesman.
"He has to cut them out."
Monkhouse should go straight into the Pools starting XI against the struggling Shrimpers, who lie three points below Turner's men with only goal difference separating them from the drop zone.
