Hartlepool United: Brown makes quick impact

Colin West believes the returning James Brown can provide the finishing touch sorely missing from Hartlepool United's attack.

Brown made a spectacular return from a knee injury in yesterday's 6-1 reserves win over Scunthorpe United after scoring twice within his first three minutes on the pitch after coming on as a sub.

The 23-year-old, who has been out of action since November with a lateral cartilage tear to his knee, is expected to be included among the substitutes against Huddersfield Town in League One on Saturday and should provide a much-needed boost to Pools' attacking options.

West said: "Without trying to put too much pressure on one person, we have missed that bit of flair with him.

"He gives you so much whether he plays on the right-hand side or straight up the middle. He just gives you that versatility.

"I would say we've missed him to a great extent."

Brown will not start Saturday's game against the play-off chasing Terriers with Adam Boyd and Denis Behan likely to be paired together up front. But Brown will earn a place on the bench.
