ANTHONY Gale moved up to twelfth place in the John Smith’s Knack Premier League after a hard-fought 5-2 victory over Barry Rutherford.

Gale’s best legs came in 20 and 21 darts, while Rutherford won both his legs in 21 darts.

Eddie Ashman endured a mixed night when he faced Davey Thompson and John Redpath.

Firstly, Ashman beat Davey Thompson 5-1 after he hit two maximums and enjoyed winning legs of 19, 21, 16 and 18 darts (twice).

Ashman then came up against John Redpath, but it was Redpath who took the three points as he fought off an Ashman comeback, after leading 4-1, before winning the deciding leg to clinch the win.

Kevin Guy remained unbeaten when he shared the spoils in another eight-leg thriller against Graham Mullen.

Guy made a strong start and led 3-1, but needed to dig deep as a resurgent Mullen, with the help of a maximum, took the next three legs to move ahead 4-3.

But Guy started the deciding leg with a maximum and took the last leg to take a share of the points.

Murton’s Neil Mather made it three games unbeaten with a comfortable 5-1 win over Neil Richardson, with Mather enjoying two 21-dart legs.

Paul Williams had to be on form to fight off a spirited display by Alan Smith.

Williams duly obliged with winning legs of 18, 17, 17, 15 and 17 darts, including a 180, as he came out on top 5-2 with Smith’s best a 19-darter.

Neil Rose came from 2-0 and 3-2 down to win 5-3 against Steve Skinner in another thriller.

Skinner won his legs in 21 and 2x20 dart, while Rose hit a maximum and enjoyed legs of 14, 17 twice and 20 darts to move up to sixth.

Martin Price moved up to seventh with a whitewash victory over Ray Malarkey, with three 20-darters the highlight.

Mark Robinson continues to impress as he made Spiller Henderson pay for missed doubles with a 5-1 win that included a 180 and legs of 18 and 20 darts.

Anth Skelton was pushed all the way by John Squire, but Skelton won the deciding eighth leg for a much needed win.
