West Ham close in on Maynard, Jelavic close to Everton move

West Ham are close to completing the signing of Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard, according to reports.Maynard is thought to be in talks with Sam Allardyce’s Hammers after City revealed they wanted to sell him, writes Daniel Prince.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at Ashton Gate in the summer with the Robins’ understood to want to sell him now rather than lose him for a free then.

Maynard had been linked with a host of clubs, including Premier League sides Everton, Wolves and Wigan, but it now looks like he will head for the promotion-chasing West Ham.

The Hammers are set for a busy deadline day, with Manchester United starlet Ravel Morrison, Barnsley’s Ricardo Vaz Te and Genoa’s Ze Eduardo all set for transfers to Upton Park.

Nikica Jelavic has agreed personal terms with Everton ahead of his move from Rangers and is now undergoing a medical, according to reports, writes Ryan Kennedy.

The former Rapid Vienna striker has been linked with West Ham, QPR and Liverpool this January but it was reported yesterday that Everton were the team who had agreed a fee with Rangers.

David Moyes will be hoping to get the deal completed as soon as possible so he can push ahead with a move for AEK Athens defender Kostas Manolas ahead of this evenings 11pm Transfer Deadline.

A fee of £500,000 has been agreed in principle for the Greece under-21 international however the move could depend on the remaining funds available after the Jelavic deal.
