Unsettled Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is on the radar of Manchester United, according to Sportsmail.
Lampard has barely featured for Chelsea this season, and could provide Sir Alex Ferguson with the goal-threat from midfield which United have lacked since the retirement of Paul Scholes.
Ferguson is believed to be a fan of the Chelsea midfielder and considered buying him back in 2001, when the player was still at West Ham.
Ferguson will have to persuade the United board to sanction deal, with Lampard’s age and likely wage demands representing potential stumbling blocks. Lampard is 33 and is rumoured to earn around £140,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.
If United are to move for Lampard, Chelsea are unlikely to seek a huge fee after Andre Villas-Boas made it clear Lampard is won’t feature regularly in his team.
