QPR boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed his interest in former Sunderland loanee Wayne Bridge after his release by Manchester City.

Bridge impressed on a season-long loan at Championship play-off semi-finalists Brighton last year after spending the final six months of the 2011-12 campaign with the Black Cats.

But the former England international is now a free agent after the end of his Manchester City contract and Redknapp is keen to land the 32-year-old on a Bosman deal.

“I’m trying to get Wayne Bridge in. I thought he did fantastic at Brighton last year and he would be a good left-back for us,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

“He’s got got great experience and looks in good shape. He’s a player that I really want to bring in on a free. We are pushing for that one.”
