FORMER Sunderland and Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra is to be shown the door at Portman Road according to Sunday newspaper reports.
The 29-year-old is to be offered a free transfer with the striker allegedly paying the price for a string of off-field problems.
The former Black Cats’ front-man scored important goals for Sunderland during a two-year stay from 2007-09.
But he left under a cloud after failing to convert a great goal-scoring chance against his former club in the Tyne-Wear derby at St James’s Park.
And since then there have been well-publicised tales of serious gambling problems, while he has also become embroiled in unsavoury Twitter spats with Sunderland fans.
