REPORTs from Brazil suggest that Tottenham Hotspur have come back in for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao.
A bid of around £20 million has apparently been tabled in a renewed effort to bring the 23 year-old to the Premier League.
The North London side have tried on a number of occasions to get the player who was top scorer in last years Olympics with six goals.
It had appeared as if their interest had cooled but with Jermain Defoe carrying a groin problem and Emanuel Adebeyor currently away at the African Cup of Nations it now seems Andre Villas boas and chairman Daniel Levy feel the need to bring in another striker.
Internacional’s Director of Football Luis Cesar Souto de Moura fueled the rumours earlier today by telling Brazilian newspaper Correio do Povo “Leandro Damiao will only leave if there is a very quick negotiation but no official offer has been made.”
The short time frame available to Spurs makes the deal difficult however as de Moura explained.
“The news involving interest for Leandro Damiao, especially from Tottenham, will always happen, they come and go. Internacional understand that it’s extremely difficult, very difficult, for Leandro Damiao to leave now.”
