BOLO ZENDEN admits Sunderland “never really showed up” at the last Tyne-Wear derby.
Newcastle spanked Sunderland 5-1 at St James’s Park back in October. Appropriately for the Black Cats, the hiding fell on Halloween.
They aim to atone for that embarrassment when the Magpies come to the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
Zenden said: “We never really showed up last time. That was the biggest disappointment and probably regret after the game.”
Sunderland have improved, and go into the derby sitting sixth in the Barclays Premier League.
Zenden added: “maybe we should thank them because it kicked off for us after that.
“We did get a good chance to get certain things said the from then on we have been on a very good run.”
