SUNDERLAND boss Martin O’Neill admits his side has had a huge lift for Boxing Day’s home clash with Everton.

Wednesday’s last-minute victory at Queens Park Rangers boosted morale ahead of two tough home matches, with Manchester City next to visit the Stadium of Light on New Year’s Day.

We Brown struck in the last minute to hand the Black Cats victory at Lotus Road and O’Neill said: “It does give us that extra confidence going into this home game and I’m obviously looking forward to it.

“It won’t be easy, but we have that extra little lift that you get from a late winning goal.”

O’Neill was particularly pleased with strikers Nicklas Bendtner and Stephane Sessegnon, who he believes helped the Black Cats look “potent”.
