SPANISH side Valencia hope to beat a host of clubs chasing Bayern Munich and Germany striker Miroslav Klose, who has been linked with Sunderland.
Klose is out of contract in the summer and will be in a strong bargaining position to make the most out of a Bosman free transfer.
The deal will be anything but “free” for the club that snaps up Klose, with the forward set to pocket a hefty signing-on fee and reportedly demanding wages in excess of £100,000.
Sunderland fans had better get ready for a summer of speculation after a disappointing second half of the season exposed a need to strengthen.
The Black Cats have been left without a fit senior striker in the closing weeks of a campaign that trailed off alarmingly.
And Klose will not be the last high-profile name linked with a move to the Stadium of Light.
The veteran international plans to leave the Bundesliga this summer and reports from Germany claim his representatives have had talks with Sunderland.
