FC Twente striker Luke De Jong has admitted that he would one day like to play in the Premier League.
De Jong is a rumoured target for Liverpool, and his comments come at a time when Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is looking to fill the void left by Luis Suarez’s eight-game ban.
De Jong told Fifa.com: “I’m still very happy playing for FC Twente, but every player has dreams.
“Mine is to play in a nice foreign competition one day and the Premier League is a really nice competition.”
Liverpool have been linked with the striker who has scored 10 goals in 17 appearances for Twente so far this season. Aged 21, he has a long future in the game and is already capable of performing at a high level. That means he fits the profile of potential Anfield signings.
De Jong went on to say: “I don’t have real plans for the future - I’ll see what comes my way.”
One factor that could impact on transfer dealings involving Twente is the depature of manager Co Adriaanse.
Former boss Steve McClaren is in the running to take over the Dutch side.
