Rangers have confirmed Estonian defender Enar Jaager and Honduran midfielder Jorge Claros are on trial with the club with a view to earning moves.
Rangers are short of options at right-back, with Steven Whittaker and Kirk Broadfoot injured, and McCoist is keen to assess Jaager’s suitability in his week-long trial as cover for the pair.
“Jaager has 80-odd caps for Estonia and played the vast majority of their Euro qualifiers, including two against Ireland,” said the manager.
“Claros is the same so both are very keen to come in.
“We are very open-minded about these things and hopefully we can take something from it.”
Meanwhile, John Fleck is travelling to Sheffield United for signing talks, but Blackpool remain the favourites to sign the Rangers forward on loan.
The 20-year-old Scotland Under-21 cap has already been in Blackpool to hold talks with the Championship club’s manager, Ian Holloway.
Now he is heading to speak to former team-mate Danny Wilson, who is hoping to persuade him to join League One’s Blades.
