SUNDERLAND’S Simon Mignolet has been linked to a swap deal with Napoli keeper Morgan De Sanctis.
Napoli are one of the clubs who have been keeping tabs on in-demand Mignolet after the Belgian’s shining displays for Sunderland last season.
And according to reports in Italy today, the Serie A outfit could use De Sanctis as part of a makeweight in a deal to land Mignolet.
Napoli’s owner has pledged that the 36-year-old will not be sold this summer after making 26 Serie A appearances last season.
But the prospect of landing Mignolet is an enticing one, particularly as the stopper has been coveted by Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.
Despite the Echo’s revelation earlier this week though that Mignolet was unlikely to extend his two-year contract at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland are in no rush to part company with the 24-year-old.
And it remains the case that it would take a huge offer for the Black Cats to be persuaded to part company with their prize asset.
