BOLOGNA striker Robert Acquafresca is a loan target for Sunderland, according to reports in Italy.
Sunderland head coach Paolo Di Canio is eager to boost his forward options before the start of the season, with AZ Alkmaar’s Jozy Altidore and Manchester City’s John Guidetti among the Black Cats’ targets.
But Acquafresca has now emerged as another potential acquisition, with Sunderland reported to be interested in a loan move - with a view to a permanent switch - for the 25-year-old.
Acquafresca has struggled for goals over recent seasons though after emerging as a bright prospect during his younger years at Cagliari.
Bologna spent £2million to sign him on a permanent basis last summer, following a loan spell at the club.
But he was then allowed out on loan to Spanish side Levante last season, where he netted just three goals.
