SUNDERLAND skipper John O’Shea has been linked with a shock move to Spurs in one of the more bizarre transfer rumours of the summer.
O’Shea is about to enter the final 12 months of his Sunderland contract and at 33, the centre-half is in the twilight of a much-decorated career.
But reports today have suggested top four hopefuls Spurs are considering a £3million move for the Republic of Ireland international.
O’Shea and central defensive partner Wes Brown played key roles in Sunderland’s escape from survival and head coach Gus Poyet has lauded the contributions of the pair.
Sunderland have also targeted Swansea skipper Ashley Williams to reinforce their central defensive options, with both Brown and O’Shea in the final year of their contracts.
But there have to be big question marks over whether new Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino would move for O’Shea, even if he is on the lookout for a new centre-half.
