Sunderland v Chelsea: Echo jury, Matthew Foster

Have your say

IF the last meeting between Sunderland and Chelsea is to go by, we won’t be short of entertainment tonight.

The 4-3 defeat was disappointing, but you certainly couldn’t take your eyes off it for a minute.

Sunderland’s priority must be the league, considering the position we find ourselves in. This is why I’d use this game as a perfect time to rest key players, and allow youngsters and fringe players to get a run out.

It gives them a chance to impress against a top side, but keeps the likes of Brown fresh and ready for Norwich at the weekend.

Mavrias is a player most Sunderland fans want to see get a chance. The lad has played Champions League, but has had limited opportunities thus far to show what he can do.

It’s unknown who Chelsea will have in their line-up. But regardless, their fringe players still possess quality that can cause damage.

I would like to see us win and have a little cup run. But as much as winning a cup would be a moment to savour, Premiership football is essential for a club of our stature.

Prediction: Sunderland 1 Chelsea 2
