Sunderland Under-18s have an away date against Middlesbrough to kick off the new Barclays U18 Premier League season.

Elliott Dickman’s side begin their campaign a week later than Dick Advocaat’s first team, heading to Boro’s Rockcliffe Park training base in the Northern Group on Saturday, August 15.

Everton are the first visitors to the Academy of Light the following week.

The league has two sections, northern and southern, with the clubs battling to claim places in the top tier of the three-group set-up for the run-in, which begins after the final game of the regular season at Liverpool on February 16.

The Under-18s, meanwhile, head to Spain today for a pre-season trip, with games to come against the Benidorm Premier League, Alicantina Selection and Alcoyano.
