SUNDERLAND target Steven Fletcher has submitted a transfer request after Wolves turned down the Black Cats’ £12million bid for the striker.
The Wearsiders made an improved bid for the Scotland international earlier this week that totalled £12m.
But Wolves have maintained their determination to keep the 25-year-old at Molineux and have rejected Sunderland’s latest offer.
Fletcher has been left disheartened by Wolves’ stance and submitted a written transfer request to Molineux chief executive Jez Moxey and manager Stale Solbakken earlier today.
The former Burnley and Hibs striker tweeted: “Just handed in a transfer request. Just to let the fans know where I am right now... #headsgone.”
Sunderland must now decide whether to make an improved bid for Fletcher, although their last offer was thought to be a final one.
But Fletcher’s action may change the situation, with the frontman understood to be absent from training today.
