SUNDERLAND misfit Danny Graham is looking to kick-start his campaign on an emergency loan at Wolves.
The 29-year-old striker, a £5million Martin O’Neill signing who failed to score in 14 Premier League appearances for the Black Cats, is delighted to get the chance of first-team football with the high-ranking Championship club until December 31.
He has only featured once for Sunderland this season – coming on as an 88th-minute substitute in the 2-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Stoke in September.
Now he has a chance to rescue his career from limbo by impressing at Molineux.
“I am delighted to join Wolves and am looking forward to meeting the lads on Monday and starting training,” Graham told Wolves’ official website, wolves.co.uk
“Wolves is a good club which has done very well over the last year and this is a good opportunity for me to try and play some regular football and get back to scoring goals.”
Molineux boss Kenny Jackett could extend the deal – loan or permanent – in January, if the move works out well.
Several Championship clubs took a look at Graham over the summer, including former club Middlesbrough, but no move was forthcoming, with the forward’s big Premier League wage a difficult obstacle to overcome.
Wolves though are ready to give a chance to the former Carlisle and Watford frontman who did a decent job for Swansea before his ill-fated move to Wearside in January 2013.
Graham, who had loan stints at Hull and Boro, could make his Wolves debut against Nottingham Forest next Saturday.
Jackett, whose side was thumped 5-0 at Derby last week, said: “We feel this is a very good move for us
“He has the goalscoring record that we are looking for and experience of playing up front in the Championship.
“With our forward line, he brings another dimension now with his experience and goalscoring record.
“We look forward to him starting with us on Monday morning and working with the squad towards the Nottingham Forest game.”
