STEPHANE Sessegnon has his sights set on cup joy after Sunderland returned to winning ways against Swansea.
Sunderland head into Sunday’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Middlesbrough in confident mood after avenging the squandered opportunities in their previous outing at Chelsea.
Sessegnon is eager to be involved in his first Wear-Tees derby and sees no barrier towards Sunderland advancing to the latter rounds of the competition.
“It was important to get back to winning ways after we were all frustrated at Chelsea,” added the 27-year-old.
“We created so many opportunities and should have won the match. It would have been good to win both games. But the cup provides something different and we’ve got ambitions to get to the next round, particularly with it being at home.
“We must continue this run of form and why can’t we have the goal of winning a cup? But it will be a difficult game against one of our local rivals.
“It’s a derby so you’ve got to be focused on it and there will be a lot of attention this week.
“It’s one of those matches that you know are a bit different. But it’s one you look forward to and I hope we can get the right derby result this time in front of our own supporters.”
