SUNDERLAND striker Asamoah Gyan has been included in Ghana’s final 23-man squad for the African Cup of Nations.

The Black Cats hitman, on-loan for the season in the UAE with Al-Ain, has been an injury worry for the Black Stars in the run-up to the tournament after sustaining a hamstring strain.

It remains touch-and-go whether the 26-year-old (pictured) will be fit in time for Ghana’s opening game against Botswana on January 24.

But Ghana boss Goran Stevanovic has included Gyan in the squad, claiming he has made “good progress” in his recovery.

Former Sunderland loanees John Mensah and Sulley Muntari have also been included in the party for the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana are at a training camp in South Africa as they prepare for group games against Botswana, Mali and Guinea.
