SUNDERLAND have been given the lowdown on Aston Villa by the latest addition to Gus Poyet’s backroom staff.
Opposition analyst Adie Cooper has joined the Black Cats from Poyet’s former club Brighton and was at the Hawthorns on Monday night to see tomorrow’s opponents Villa fight back from 2-0 down to secure a 2-2 draw against West Brom.
“Villa are the first team Adie has analysed for me here,” said Poyet.
“I have got my first report from him.
“He knows the way I like to work.
“I like to have the report on the opposition on a certain day so that I can see how to work.
“Before I came here, things were done in a slightly different way.
“But now we will to do it the way I want.
“Every manager is different, every manager does these things his own way.”
Cooper has also prepared a file on Poyet’s former club, Chelsea, who travel to the Stadium of Light next Wednesday.
Poyet will brush up on Jose Mourinho’s side on Sunday morning, before watching them host high-flying Southampton in the afternoon.
“Some managers like to have Sunday off, but I can tell you 100 per cent that I will be watching Chelsea,” he said.
“That’s the way I work - it’s natural for me.”
