SUNDERLAND winger Adam Johnson has been left out of the England squad for next week’s friendly against Sweden.
Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson had named Johnson in every squad since the summer’s European Championships after handing a fresh opportunity to the 25-year-old.
But the Easington-born wideman has struggled for form since his £10million switch from Manchester City and has not been included in the 23-man party to face Sweden, in Stockholm, next Wednesday.
Liverpool teenage winger Raheem Sterling has been preferred to Johnson, while there is also a place in the squad for 31-year-old Everton midfielder Leon Osman.
