SUNDERLAND defender John Egan has extended his loan spell at League Two Southend United until the end of the season.
Egan has helped the Shrimpers to three clean sheets in six games since moving to Roots Hall on loan last month, while he also netted a spectacular 35-yard half-volley in a 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe.
The Republic of Ireland international, who is out-of-contract in the summer, will now be available for Southend’s run-in, including their potential involvement in the play-offs.
Southend boss Phil Brown said: “John has done really well since coming to the club.
“I’m delighted John will be with us until the end of the season now.”
