SUNDERLAND’S youngsters will play their FA Youth Cup tie behind closed doors today after the weather took its toll on the tie for a third time.
Kevin Ball’s side were due to face reigning champions Chelsea at Eppleton CW tonight in the third round of the competition.
But the Eppleton pitch was deemed unplayable last night and instead the two teams were due to clash in a behind-closed-doors game at the Academy of Light this afternoon.
The two previous attempts to play the tie in December were both postponed because of the weather and the FA decided the match must take place at the Sunderland training ground. The winners face Arsenal in the next round.
