SUNDERLAND have recalled winger Ahmed Elmohamady from Championship side Hull City.
The Egyptian has starred for the Tigers since reuniting with former Sunderland boss Steve Bruce at the KC Stadium in August, with his 23 appearances helping Hull to the automatic promotion places.
But there was a recall clause in Elmohamady’s season-long loan switch and Sunderland have triggered it to bring the 25-year-old back to the Stadium of Light.
Elmohamady will provide cover for the Black Cats, with Martin O’Neill low on numbers.
O’Neill was unable to name a full-strength bench for last night’s FA Cup defeat to Bolton, while his options will be further depleted with Louis Saha set to depart the Stadium of Light.
Elmohamady, whose sole appearance for Sunderland this season came as a substitute on the opening day at Arsenal, could now be included in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Wigan.
