The Rokermen’s leading ever appearance maker and now Club Ambassador, will turn 70 in Ocotber and the ‘This is Your Life’ style Black Tie Gala Dinner is the club’s way of saying thank you for his many years of service.
The evening, which will include a host of tributes from sporting greats and a charity auction, will take place on Friday, November 1, with all proceeds from the evening going towards the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
The club’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “Every Sunderland fan, whether young or old, knows the story of Jimmy’s double save in the 1973 FA Cup Final.
“Holding the club record for the most number of appearances, Jim is a huge part of our history and is loved by everyone.
“We’re delighted to be able to honour him in this way – and raise funds for a very worthwhile cause.”
Tickets for the evening are priced £75 and include a three-course dinner with coffee, a pre-event reception in Quinn’s Sports Bar and a commemorative programme.
Sponsorship packages are also available; an associate package which includes a table for 12, a drinks reception, photo opportunities and stadium tour with Jimmy, alongside logo acknowledgements throughout the evening and on the club website, starts at £2,225.
