SUNDERLAND boss Martin O’Neill said he took a lot of positives from today’s derby, as well as the hard-earned point.
“I regard it as two points dropped but I have to stress that I’m very, very proud of my players,” he said.
“They put in a terrific shift both before and after the sending off.
“I’ve got no complaints about the sending off of Stephane Sessegnon – he raised his hands and you can’t do that.
“If Lee (Cattermole) has received a red card for foul and abusive language then there can be no complaints about that – he can’t do that.
“But I can understand Lee’s frustration, he would feel that there were a lot of challenges in the second half from Newcastle that went unpunished.”
