SUNDERLAND boss Paolo Di Canio is hoping to seize victory again at St James’ Park – but this time as a player.
The Italian has been announced as a last-minute addition to the AC Milan legends squad taking part in Steve Harper’s Newcastle United testimonial match on Wednesday.
Di Canio’s last visit to the Newcastle stadium was in April when the Black Cats side demolished the Magpies in a 3-0 victory.
His appearance will therefore add spice to the friendly, which may see the Italian take some flak from the terraces.
The Milan squad also includes Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta, Zvonimir Boban and captain Franco Baresi.
Alan Shearer, Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, Faustino Asprilla and Joey Barton feature on the line up for Newcastle.
All proceeds from the game will be spilt between the Newcastle United Foundation, the Great North Children’s Hospital and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
