SUNDERLAND will be hoping to add to their excellent record at Leeds Road on Saturday, when they are due to bridge an eight-year gap by meeting newly-relegated Huddersfield Town there on Saturday.
It was in the opening game of the 1963-64 season that Sunderland launched themselves into a successful promotion drive by claiming a 2-0 victory at Leeds Road, a win there on Saturday would boost their current drive towards the same target.
With no injury hangover from Saturday’s game against Sheffield Wednesday, Sunderland will have an unchanged side on duty for the third successive game, with Jackie Ashurst, the 17-year-old who has two impressive games to his credit, continuing at No. 5 Billy Hughes is again named as substitute, with Jimmy Hamilton going along as travelling reserve.
The team will be; Montgomery, Malone and Coleman, Horswill, Ashurst and Porterfield, McGiven, Kerr, Watson, Lathan and Tueart. Substitutes, Hughes; Reserve, Hamilton.
