Liam Bridcutt's loan move to Leeds United won't be completed before the Yorkshire side's clash with Cardiff tonight.
The £2.5million ex-Brighton midfielder hasn’t made an appearance for the Black Cats this season despite being included in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad.
And he is now set to leave Wearside, joining Steve Evans’ Leeds on loan until January where he will team up with fellow Sunderland outcast Will Buckley.
His loan switch was expected to be finalised before noon today but that won't happen according to sources in Leeds, meaning Bridcutt will have to wait. He is now due to sign before Leeds' game against Huddersfield on Saturday.
Evans, meanwhile, has been speaking about Sunderland winger Buckley and what he needs to do to nail down a regular starting spot.

Black Cats prospect Duncan Watmore is in line for a new deal, as revealed in today's Sunderland Echo.
Sam Allardyce hopes to finalise a new deal for Sunderland hot prospect Duncan Watmore “as soon as possible”.
And finally, Steven Fletcher - who scored in the 6-2 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park - has been reflecting on the heavy defeat.
Fletcher said: "The amount of chances we got on Sunday was the most I have ever had in a game since I moved to Sunderland.
“It’s good in that aspect but we need to keep the door shut at the other end.
“I think it is the silly mistakes that we need to cut out because in the Premier League if you make one mistake teams will pounce on you.
“We are creating chances though which is a good thing, hopefully we can stop conceding so many and we will be alright," added Fletcher, to the club's website.
