Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has been boosted by the return to fitness of Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini.
Defoe limped off the pitch after scoring the winner against Crystal Palace but his injury was not as bad as first feared. And Allardyce is hoping to be able to call on his services against Stoke City at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Borini too is set to return to the squad after his ankle injury.
The emergency loan window closes at 5pm tonight and Football League clubs have until then to secure the services of Premier League fringe players and youngsters on loan.
Today has finally seen Black Cats midfielder Liam Bridcutt seal his loan switch to Championship side Leeds United. Meanwhile, Will Buckley has been recalled from his loan stint with the Yorkshire side.
And finally, Sunderland football star Jill Scott will receive a special cap on Sunday.
The England midfielder completed a century of games for her country in the recent tour to China.
