DeAndre Yedlin: Not his day. Unfortunate deflection for Chelsea's first and needed to be stronger in the air for second. Hazard gave him a tough time too. Recovered second half...6

Lamine Kone: Was caught napping for the second goal. The Sunderland defence were all at sea. Looked to injure his knee first half and was subbed after 55 minutes.....6

Younes Kaboul: Made some timely interceptions. Had work cut out with Diego Costa. Brilliant second half, marshalling the defence. Booked......7

Patrick van Aanholt: Played Chelsea onside for Matic's goal, was deeper than the rest of the defence. Much improved second half and provided the assist for the winner....7

Jan Kirchhoff: Not as influential. Sunderland midfield struggled to contain Chelsea. Made some timely interceptions but took too many touches at times. Subbed early....6

Lee Cattermole (C): Played some tidy through balls but Borini couldn't control and Defoe was offside. Led from the front second half. Booked.....7

Yann M'Vila: Blasted one effort high over the bar first half, much more dominant after the break. Back to his best.....7

Fabio Borini: Was in the wars, taking several heavy blows from the Chelsea defence. Scored and played a big part in the win second half.....8
