STOKE CITY assistant Mark Bowen has admitted the Potters are trying to sign Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole before tonight’s transfer deadline.
Cattermole has been in Stoke’s sights for more than a week and the Midlands club are thought to be in negotiations with Sunderland over the midfielder.
And at today’s press conference, Stoke number two Bowen admits the Potters are trying to complete the deal before the end of the transfer window at 11pm tonight.
“It’s been well documented we are in discussions with Sunderland about Lee Cattermole,” said Bowen.
“Lee is a player we’ve admired for a while and it’s transfer we’re trying to get over the line.
“We’ve got to be confident we can pull it off. You have to be when you approach a club about any player.”
