So is it down to two from three to join Aston Villa in the Championship next season?
Villa are down - they are way too far adrift to have any chance of overhauling three teams. And way too bad as well.
A win for the Cherries will leave Newcastle in the bottom three.
And Swansea’s win at Arsenal on Wednesday surely leaves them safe too. Are two of Sunderland, Norwich and Newcastle capable of making up the six-point gap to the Swansea - a team capable of winning at Arsenal despite resting some players?
And Swansea have Villa at home coming up, so three points there.
So it’s a no-brainer what result we want to see when Swansea take on Norwich tomorrow - a home win!
Norwich look to be falling like a stone, and another defeat should keep them below Sunderland - who will hopefully get a point or three from their trip to Southampton.
Newcastle are at home to Bournemouth, who are another club who seem to have enough to stay up.
Again, it’s a no-brainer - a win for the Cherries will leave Newcastle in the bottom three and still struggling as the next derby looms.
One key factor now is goal difference. Sunderland have a slight edge on Norwich and Newcastle - though the Mags still have a game in hand.
No wonder Big Sam is desperate for a clean sheet or three. Goal difference can change so quickly ... remember the trip to St Mary’s last season!
The othher Premier League games have little impact on the relegation scrap.
Leicester are away to Watford in Saturday’s late kick-off. It would be good for the Foxes to get back to winning ways in time for their clash at home to Newcastle a week on Monday.
