Sam Allardyce is expecting at least one more arrival at Sunderland before the transfer deadline.

Sunderland last night completed their fourth - and biggest so far - signing of January after centre-half Lamine Kone finally completed a £5million move from French side Lorient.

But Allardyce continues to explore a number of avenues for further arrivals, with a right-back and a forward still positions that he would ideally like to strengthen.

The Sunderland boss is confident of at least one more signing, with any more likely to depend on outgoings after the Black Cats have already offloaded a number of players this month.

"I think certainly one more will be achieved before Monday," said Allardyce.

"Any more than that will be dependant on the negotiations."

Sunderland have been tracking Swansea forward Andre Ayew and Arsenal right-back Mathieu Debuchy, with the latter keen to leave the Emirates to play regular first-team football.

Allardyce has confirmed Sunderland have made an enquiry, although he insists that any deal has not progressed further than that at present.

But he appeared to pour cold water on Sunderland's chances of landing Ayew after Swansea rejected a bid earlier this month and have repeatedly insisted that the Ghana international is not for sale.

Allardyce said: “Have we given up? Yes. I can’t see Swansea selling Andre Ayew."
