The result leaves Sunderland second-bottom of the Championship ahead of Tuesday's must-win game against bottom side Bolton Wanderers, but many fans want a change of manager before that fixture.

Here's a selection of comments from Twitter:

@RamseySAFC: I see a lot of people blaming Grayson for today. In past games he has deserved blame but today come on... Today was 100% the players. #safc

@Parkersafc: If Grayson isn't sacked tonight we will be playing League 1 football next season #safc

@distract2death: Grayson has to go now. I've backed him but I think the job is too big for him. #safc

@H3nno59: Why wait until after Tuesday. Grayson needs to go NOW! And, if Steele is a goalie I’m Miss World. #safc

@spatialsyndave: Let's hope Grayson is gone by 10:00 on Monday morning. If he has an ounce of integrity he'll resign now! #safc

@ScottDuffman: #safc are a million miles off even winning a game at the moment. Sleepwalking into another relegation. Totally fed up with the lot of them.

@crazycorner01: I remember when this club was he heart of the city and now it’s broke beyond repair #SAFC

@Kevin_Maguire: Simon Grayson’s a decent bloke who inherited a poor team but unless he’s replaced Sunderland will be relegated again. We’re a crisis club

@jimmylowson: Still think most of Sunderland's problems aren't solved by sacking Grayson, but if we lose to Bolton on Tuesday and we may as well test out that theory #safc

@HodgeSAFC: In all likelihood it's not going to make much difference who the manager is anyway, but Bolton is surely Grayson's last chance saloon. #SAFC
