We all know Nicklas Bendtner has blown hot and cold since coming to Sunderland, but for a guy who doesn’t lack confidence, the derby was always going to be a game that would suit him.

He led the line well and not only did he take a pressurised penalty well, I thought he was unlucky when he took the ball down and shot in one movement. It was one of the rare moments of quality in the game.

Obviously he came off in the second half, possibly because the role became a bit harder when Stephane Sessegnon left the field.

But I thought he certainly did his job after his display in the first half.
