SUNDERLAND youngster Ross Colquhoun has signed for non-league side Ilkeston.
The Evo-Stik League Premier Division club have snapped up the 18-year-old centre-back until the end of the season.
Under-18 Academy vice-captain Colquhoun had been told he wouldn’t be getting a professional contract, and will be released by Sunderland.
The defender told the Echo earlier this month: “I was sort of preparing for it. When I was told, I wasn’t overly surprised.
“But to be honest, I think it’s a blessing in disguise for me. And I’ve got a few trials coming up, so hopefully I can do well there.”
The Washington-born player was one of three deadline-day signings by the Derbyshire outfit who are looking to clinch a play-off place, with the possibility of promotion to the Conference North.
