RELEASED Sunderland keeper Keiren Westwood is NOT a surprise target for Premier League champions Manchester City.
Reports earlier this week suggested Westwood was on City’s radar as back-up to England international Joe Hart.
Ex-City number two Costel Pantilimon completed a Bosman move to Sunderland yesterday after the Romanian international penned a four-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
That has left Manuel Pellegrini’s side on the lookout for a new second choice stopper and former City trainee Westwood was mooted as a shock option, with his Sunderland contract expiring at the end of this month.
But City sources have indicated that the Republic of Ireland international is not on the club’s radar, with several Championship sides keen on the 29-year-old.
