Sunderland endured a nightmare final few seconds to lose 1-0 at West Ham today, extending their winless start to nine Premier League matches.

Here’s how some supporters reacted on Twitter to the heartbreaking defeat to defender Winston Reid’s goal, as Sunderland switched off defending a free-kick deep into stoppage time.

@Real_StevieG: It was to be expected. 93 mins & 50 seconds of 4 extra. Expected because it is something that happens regularly.

@stevenxhardy: Invite pressure, switch off, concede. Repeat. Can we just fast-forward to April now please.

@stuartmiller73: We weren’t ‘unlucky’ We chose to make 3 substitutions and opted to sit back and defend at a time when we looked more likely to score

@rstaincliffe1: Relegation fodder

@RGHanson93: Blame injuries all you want, but Moyes’ tactics and subs are just as much to blame if not more

@calmackay90: We may have ‘deserved’ a point. But we had the ability to secure that point, or all three. And our own errors mean we leave with none

@Earles93: Moyes tactical genius take off attacker bring on defender = invite pressure why not hoy Anichibe on someone to play long to & hold it

@WiseMenSayPod: Another goal in stoppage time. It’s not a coincidence

@WeePhillie: TBH was a bit disappointed we were only gonna come away with a point ...and then that happened!

@davidthomas1974: From back to front were rubbish #safc O’Shea should retire now, PVA crap, Pienear was released for a reason, Watmore not good enough

@bobbyspout: Ah #SAFC... You never fail to disappoint. Thought we were incredibly lucky to even be level in the 90th minute. Turning off at the end tho

@dodsy_adam: 2 points out of a possible 27 is just criminal. Only one way we’re going. Least it gets a bit easier next week, Arsenal at home.

@pauld_1973: Can #safc just quit for the rest of the season to avoid the fans anymore embarrassment?

@RealPaulCurry: Still the same points as a chip shop fork. I feel we are going to set a new record this season

@DavidNunn73: Sickening.

@jamesssxo: All I want is a team to be proud of.

@Safc1Alex: Probably the best we played defensive wise

@KatieNicoll: This is a cruel, cruel world we live in

@Distillerymad: Well that was bloody heartbreaking

@lukepennock: You have got to be joking.. cant take much more of this me like

@BrentSaysHurl: We now have less points, less games, and a worse team than when Moyes turned the job down a year ago saying he couldn’t keep us up.

@stevenxhardy: Invite pressure, switch off, concede. Repeat. Can we just fast-forward to April now please.

@Leigh_Warin: At this point I know we’re going down so can we replace Moyes with someone with a bit of charisma and the resemblance of a plan?

@jamesmooreftm: Not in a million years did we deserve to lose, Moyes won’t win a game for us, club is almost beyond help

@jackjenkins97: At this point we might as well aim for the lowest points record, least then there’ll be something to remember this season for

@PaulWelsh1331: When you need wins not draws why sit so deep trying to protect a point? Always risks that happening

@devonia_20: Aaaaand there it is. The weekly heartache returns

@moyza69: Switched off for 5 seconds and their Centre Half scorer from outside the box with the last kick of the game. How Sunderland

@Kristophr: Club have so much to answer for. We’ve been going backwards every single year

@Larry__96: They are literally the only set of players in the premier league who would switch off completely for a corner in the last minute

@LukeODair: We definitely deserved a point out of that but still not showing enough to win games at this level

@LdoubleE_87: Tough to take as we played decent but Moyes gets it tactically wrong again

@MorganLowrie: That’s now 3 points dropped in stoppage time this season (ManC, Sou, CPa) and 6 dropped in last 10 mins of games

@FTMxSAFC: Changes need to be made

@calmackay90: We played ok. But we missed our chance, we switch off for their goal and we pay the price. It’s the Premier League

@ColArmstrong: Whats Moyes Number 2 & 3 even doing? Certainly not helping him out either, play defensively just allows teams at us when need 2 attack

@LdoubleE_87: Tough to take as we played decent but Moyes gets it tactically wrong again

@CheshTheCat: Misplaced passes, poor clearances, about 3 seconds behind the play. Didier Ndong is an appalling footballe

@phil_browell: Never known an #SAFC manager be so negative on & off the pitch. It’s like we’re defeated before kick off each week. His tactics are abysmal

@Joelee15: Sunderland looking like last year’s Aston Villa.
