SUNDERLAND reporter Chris Young gives his verdict after the 10-man Black Cats limped to a stalemate against Championship Fulham.
Mannone 6 - Looked nervy from crosses and corners on his first competitive start since November.
Vergini 6 - Exposed by Fofana early in the second half when the Fulham man bobbled a shot just wide.
O’Shea 7 - Shrugged off a knee problem during the first half and at least guided Sunderland to a clean sheet.
Coates 6 - Not commanding enough to suggest he can secure a regular place in the three-man central defence.
JONES 7 - Found space throughout and was began to get to the byline in the second half. (Buckley 5 - Looks devoid of confidence).
Van Aanholt 7 - Some loose touches, but at least worried the Fulham defence with his pace.
Bridcutt 5 - Far too ponderous in possession and sloppy on too many occasions too.
Larsson 6 - Tried to inject some better tempo into Sunderland’s play after the break.
Rodwell 4 - Idiotic second yellow card after being fortunate to escape a straight red in the first half. Several loose touches and ooks more effective in deeper role.
Fletcher 6 - Forced to drop too deep and starved of service. (Wickham 6 - Stung Bettinelli’s finger-tips with a long-range drive and was brighter than on recent outings).
Defoe 7 - Denied by Bettinelli on three occasions after being limited almost to a spectator role for the first hour of his home debut.
FULHAM: Bettinelli 8, Grimmer 7, Hutchinson 7, Bodurov 7, Stafylidis 7, Tunnicliffe 6, Fofana 7 (Kacaniklic 6), Christensen 7, Ruiz 6, Woodrow 6 (Rodallega 7), Dembele 6 (McCormack 7).
